HOUDINI, Harry (Erik Weisz, 1874 ? 1926). Houdini TLS Regarding D.D. Home and More. On one page of Houdini's printed letterhead with his Harlem address, dated June 26, 1923, Houdini writes to Alex De Vega, in part, ?I am up to my article on ?D.D. Home" in my book, and there seems to be a question as to the authenticity of his name." Houdini goes on to doubt Home's claim that his name was originally ?Hume," discusses De Vega's continued trips to Crewe to investigate William Hope the spirit photographer, and continues with, ?Goldin is working on an act whereby he has a moving picture in which the woman in this cinema does a mind-reading act; she answers question and writes things on the blackboard; and he claims that he positively has no confederates. This evidently is a new idea here." Old mailing folds, closed tear at center. Boldly signed in black ink, ?Houdini."
