KELLAR, Harry (1849 - 1922). Kellar The Great Magician. Cincinnati: The Strobridge Litho. Co., 1894. Bright red imps sit on the shoulders of the performer, whispering secrets of the ages in his ears. Handsome gilt frame, 49 ? x 39 ?". Not examined out of frame, but one closed tear and a few scuffs visible, else clean and bright. This is the scarcer large-format one-sheet version of this classic poster, and an important image in the history of conjuring, in that Kellar was the first magician on record to use the ?whispering imps" in his advertising. The proceeds from the sale of this lot will be donated to the St. Jude's Research hospital per the wishes of the consignor, Bill Kress.
