THE GREAT LEON (Leon H. Levy). Leon & Co., the Wonder Workers Present Fire and Water. London: Haycock-Cadle, ca. 1910. Resplendent in his ?Hindu" costume studded with rhinestones, Leon applies a torch to a table on which stands a lovely lady. She vanishes in a wisp of smoke and flame, only to reappear inside a water-filled tank hanging some distance away on the stage. In the poster, the smoke forms a question mark as it rises from the pyre. Framed, 87 x 39". Linen-backed. SCARCE. From the Norm Nielsen collection. A seldom-encountered poster, and the only known full-color lithograph advertising the whirlwind vaudeville show of The Great Leon. A variant of the poster overprinted for The Great Raymond is also known.
