KRESKIN (George Kresge, 1935-2024). Kreskin's Q&A Lap Desk/Writing Board. Circa 1980. A folding lap desk with collapsible screens on all four sides, owned and used by Kreskin for his performance of the famous question-and-answer portion of his evening shows. The desk was used to shield Kreskin's writing from prying eyes as he made notes and comments regarding thought-of questions from the audience and delivered his answers. Crafted from wood, with a leather belt or strap, metal closure hasps, heavy cardboard sides, and black tape hinges. 20 1/2 x 13 x 5 1/2" (open). Offered with a smaller cardboard model, with a note inside stating that it was last used on stage in 2017. 

Kreskin's performances required virtually no props; this lap desk is one of the only custom-made articles required for his shows. In the tradition of many mentalists before him, the Q&A portion of his performance was a highlight of Kreskin's appearances.
