LEIPZIG, Nate (1873 - 1939). Loving Cup Presented to Nate Leipzig by Houdini. 1922. Sterling silver loving cup engraved with the dedication, "Presented to / Nate Leipzig / by the members of / The Magicians Club / London, England / August 1922." On the reverse, the Hebrew word "Mizpah" has been engraved in decorative capital letters. Height 6 3/4", diameter at mouth 5". Weight of cup 11.7 oz. 

Harry Houdini served as President of the Magicians Club of London for nearly 15 years, from 1911 until his death in 1926. Leipzig was one of the great sleight-of-hand artists of his generation, and presented intimate close-up tricks on stage. The "Mizpah" engraving most likely implies the distance between members of the club and Leipzig's home in New York City, as the phrase is often used to remember friends who live a great distance apart from each other. 

Minor denting and tarnishing to cup, but generally very good.
