SECOND LATIN EDITION WITHOUT COLOPHON, pirated from Magini's edition of 1596 (Phillips 404). "In response to his inquiry, Abraham Ortelius informed Magini of the publisher's name on November 4, 1597. It is not known whether Magini subsequently took any action" (Meurer). The copperplates by Girolamo Porro include Ptolemaic maps along with modern maps after Ortelius and Mercator, depicting Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. 

Binding worn with material loss at joints and extremities, several small holes, and cracking; dark stain to spine and several lighter spots to covers. Edge wear and soiling to front and rear leaves with bent corners, water damage, and holes. Removed bookplate on fep with glue residue. Hole at margin left rear in index B with ownership markings at end. Else good with occasional minor toning, spotting, and edge wear. Lacking several plates. Very good.
