MILLER, Charlie (1909 - 1989). Group of Charlie Miller/Tomsoni Correspondence and Photos. 1960s - 80s. Thirteen letters and/or cards, both typed and in Miller's own hand, addressed to Johnny Thompson. Most include Miller's take on the passing scene or describe - in great detail - the many magic effects and sleights he is working on, including the Silver Ball (David Devant), cold deck devices and deck switches (one requiring a two-man crew), Miller's work on cruise ships, various magic gimmicks, Paul Fox's rabbit production ("THIS IS FOR YOUR INFORMATION ONLY!"), and much more.
Several letters fill three or four pages, and also included is a handwritten introduction to a book of magic by Harry Riser, and a letter of authorization from Miller to Thompson.
Offered with: two color photos of Miller and Johnny Thompson, a stack of 3 x 5" color portraits of Miller in a derby hat, a roll of negatives of portraits of Miller, two partial Miller letters, a photostat of a 13-page typed letter to Miller by Thompson, and a description (apparently in Thompson's hand) about performing the Egg Bag in a double-act with Miller slated for publication in Miller's Genii column. Most items SIGNED "Charlie" or "Charlie Miller." In all, a fascinating archive of material linking these two great American sleight-of-hand artists and revealing their apparently unpublished ideas.
