NASA Flight Research Center Edwards AFB Press & Publicity Photographic Archive Group of 15 official NASA Flight Research Center publicity and documentary photographs relating to Edwards Air Force Base and associated aerospace testing and administrative operations, primarily mid-1960s. The archive includes aerial views of Flight Research Center facilities and construction, hangar interiors, aircraft testing environments, press photography sessions involving experimental aircraft, images connected to Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey’s April 1, 1965 visit, and documentary views of remote research and instrumentation sites. Several photographs bear NASA Flight Research Center Edwards, California insignia and typed identification numbers in the margins. Strong institutional and Cold War-era aerospace imagery throughout, with notable visual emphasis on the development of Edwards as a center for advanced aeronautics research and X-plane testing culture. Sizes generally approx. 8 x 10".
