NASA Lunar Orbiter Photographs (2) Earth & Moon Surface. Circa 1967. Group of two vintage NASA Lunar Orbiter program photographs issued with printed captions and Marquardt Corporation “Rocket Systems Division” credit. Images include a detailed view of the lunar surface identified as Oceanus Procellarum photographed by Lunar Orbiter III, noting the landing area of USSR Luna 9 and the Galilei crater, and a widely reproduced early space image titled “The Earth as Seen by Lunar Orbiter V.” Both prints exhibit the characteristic scan-line banding associated with transmitted orbital imagery. Produced as part of late-1960s NASA unmanned reconnaissance missions preceding Apollo landings, these photographs represent early high-resolution mapping of the moon and one of the first remote views of Earth from lunar orbit.

Each 8 1/2 x 11 inches.

Condition

Light wear, minor creasing and handling marks; overall very good.
