Black and white image of Dr. King in his open coffin, with a teenage boy, a man and woman in mourning. Approximately 19 7/8 x 16". With ?2 1455" stamped in ink on verso and ?/3 a" in pencil on verso. Upper and lower margins neatly trimmed away (no apparent loss of image), some light edgewear to upper and lower margins, a few small marginal creases, some minor marginal rubbing. Fine. The Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA was the church where Dr. King was the pastor (serving alongside his father, Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr.). Dr. King, Jr. served at this church from 1960 until his assassination in 1968. This famous image was taken by Schulke, who was King's primary photographer and friend. Measurements: 20"L x 16"W x 1"H.
