Autograph Letter Signed to Stephen B. Elkins. Mentor, Ohio, September 3, 1880. 2pp. on 1 8vo sheet discussing his 1880 presidential campaign, including the "October States" strategy and need of "immediate and liberal supply of money." "And now, My Friend, will you not put your study shoulder to the wheel & throw your weight into the work till we win?" Addressed "My Dear Elkins"; signed "Very truly your Friend JA Garfield." Approximately 10 1/4 x 8". 

[With:] CLEVELAND, Grover (1837-1908). Autograph Letter Signed to Henry G. Davis. Washington, June 14, 1887. Four 12mo pages on 1 folded sheet in which Cleveland apologizes to Davis for missing him in Washington. "I hope I need not say to you that I am at all times glad to see you and think I should be very much grieved if you should think otherwise." Addressed "My dear sir"; signed "Yours sincerely Grover Cleveland." Approximately 9 x 7". 

Condition

Both toned and folded. Grover Cleveland letter with minor soiling; James Garfield with few spots. Very Good.
