ROCK, Will (1907 – 95). Archive of Will Rock Correspondence and Illusion Show Ephemera. 1930s. A large group of TLSs and ALSs sent to Rock by prominent correspondents, along with Rock’s notes on his illusion show, telegrams, running orders of the show, and other paperwork related to his late 1930s presentation of a Thurston-branded stage show presented by Rock and his company. Included are TLSs from Jane Thurston regarding Rock’s purchase of Thurston illusions, from Grover George regarding assistants on the show and places it might play, letters from various assistants who are seeking employment with Rock (including George Boston, who was an assistant on the show), and missives from managers including Felix Bley regarding his booking of the Rock show, and much more. Also included are blank forms and contracts for the Rock show, a carbon management contract for Rock with Page & Page Ltd., weekly show gross reports, and a signed agreement between Rock and Claude H. Long for the exhibition of the show. Neatly organized in a three-ring binder, and generally well-kept, with usual age from wear and handling. Approximately 50 items.
