SMITH, Lillian (1871 - 1930). Sharpshooter Lillian Smith's Engraved Silver Coffee Pot. Circa 1905. An elaborate and large silver-plated coffee pot engraved with floral patterns, resting on a decorative stand with claw feet and built-in pivot for pouring, with an integral stand for a matching silver cup. The front of the vessel is engraved with the name "Lillian"; this coffee service was presented to Smith by her employer, Pawnee Bill, during the years she performed as a sharpshooter in his famous wild west show. Approximately 15 x 10 x 10".

A rare surviving relic from this accomplished female sharpshooter who worked for Buffalo Bill and Pawnee Bill, and was later employed on the 101 Ranch Real Wild West Show by the Miller Brothers. For a time she performed under the stage name of "Princess Wenona," a supposed Sioux princess. Though working on the same shows and presenting similar acts, Smith and Annie Oakley were bitter rivals.

Uniformly tarnished, but overall very good condition.
