This science fiction novel by Wylie, about a man (Hugo Danner) who is born with enhanced strength, speed, and bulletproof skin, is widely considered to be an inspiration for Siegel and Schuster's Superman. Much like Superman, Hugo spends much of his life hiding his abilities in order to blend in with ordinary humans, and rarely uses his powers openly.
