THURSTON, Howard (1869 ? 1936). Thurston Spirit Cabinet Press Photo. Circa 1925. Large and revealing image of the American magician seated in his Spirit Cabinet with two floating heads (one of Abraham Lincoln), a large ghostly form, and a disembodied human arm and hand all inside the structure with him. Thurston holds one hand to his head. 8 x 10". ?File Copy" rubber stamps to recto and verso, archive sticker and penciled notations to verso. Thurston road crates can be seen at the sides of the cabinet and the ?secret" assistant inside the box can also seen, covered from head to toe in black velvet. When reproduced in newspapers, these details were likely retouched or cropped out of view.
