Illustrated with map of the Inland Navigation and 21 (of 22) numbered folding maps (the final map, The Plan of the Battle of Buxar, is seldom found in this title). The first 10 maps hand-colored. [55] pp. Contemporary full calf, rebacked with later calf, gilt.
Condition
Binding worn, soiled, scuffed, hinges repaired, text and maps generally toned, soiled, some creasing, dampstaining, and a few tears to maps. Calcutta bookseller's ticket on fp. Signature of "Lieut. Edward Rowland Jackson, Dara" on the front blank. Tipped-in before the front blank is a small manuscript note in an unknown hand with information about Jackson (he was an officer in the Bengal army in the mid-1700s). Very good. SECOND EDITION OF THIS RARE ATLAS OF BENGAL.
