This diverse sale - made up of fine, vintage, and vernacular photographs - will focus closely on the snapshot. Once considered mere "fabrics of yesteryear," these fleeting images have been recently reclaimed by the collecting community, and appreciated for their candid, historical, and visual depth. But all genres of photographs will be represented, with featured lots to include space and NASA material, sideshow cabinet cards, fine art photos, and vernacular works of all types.

WWII China-Burma-India Theater Photograph Archive Identified to T/Sgt. I. B. Libott. Archive of approximately 95 vernacular photographs documenting the service of T/Sgt. I. B. Libott (ASN 19129237) in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. The images depict U.S. military personnel, aircraft, vehicles, and camp life, together with numerous views of Indian street scenes, architecture, monuments including the Taj Mahal, and local civilians. Several photographs exhibit composed or staged qualities consistent with documentary or semi-official use. Accompanied by Libott’s original typed authorization permitting possession of a .25 caliber Mauser pistol, signed by Capt. M. R. McBride, Infantry, S-2 Officer, APO 881, providing firm identification to the group. Various sizes, primarily snapshot format.

Condition

Generally good with expected wear, including curling, light creasing, and handling.
