FIRST EDITION OF THIS SCARCE COLLECTION OF LITHOGRAPHED PORTRAITS OF DISTINGUISHED AMERICANS, ALL OF WHICH ARE AFTER DAGUERROTYPES.

Incredibly rare, perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire this collection of portraits.

Boards detached (yet present), spine perished, binding heavily worn, soiled, blanks and endleaves worn, soiled, creased, front blank and ffep. loose (yet present), binding, text and plates dampstained. Fair.

Packing and handling by us of purchased lots is at the entire risk of the purchaser, and Potter and Potter Auctions, Inc. will have no liability of any loss or damage to such items. Packing and shipping expenses shall be added to buyer's invoice and will reflect a charge for labor, materials, insurance, transportation, as well as actual shipper fees.

As best as we can tell, this is the first copy to appear at auction. According to OCLC, there are only three copies in the United States (possibly the only other copies extant), one at the Library of Congress, one at the Library of Virginia, and the last one at the Boston Athenaeum. There is one copy mentioned at the Smithsonian Institution not listed on OCLC (it is unclear if this is the same copy at the Library of Congress, as they do lend material back and forth).
