MATANIA, Fortunino (Italian, 1881-1963). Untitled Original Drawing of a Serving Woman Offering Fruit to a Pharoah in an Ancient Egyptian Scene. [N.p., ca. 20th century]. Charcoal on paper. Elaborate image taking place in a throne room with a Pharoah, three serving women, a queen, and a male servant. Signed at lower left. Sight approximately 12 ? x 8 ?". Matted and framed under plexiglass. Frame size approximately 26 ? x 22 ?". Faint marginal thumboiling. Fine. Legendary film director Cecil B. DeMille (1881-1959) had hired Matania to create drawings and paintings to help design his film, The Ten Commandments (1956); it is possible that this drawing may be part of that effort, but it is not confirmed. Not examined out of frame. From the Collection of Louis A. Irmo. Measurements: 27 x 23 x 2".
